Under the hood, the Chevy Trax's 1.2-liter turbo-three engine generates 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, turning the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. It's mostly focused on efficiency, achieving an EPA-estimated 30 mpg combined.1 However, it has enough torque to deliver decent quickness off the line. Plus, the Trax's balanced chassis, predictable steering, and convenient space requirements make it a well-rounded city runabout.
